I have more than 25 years of experience in psychotherapy,
psychological and diagnostic assessment, and psychological testing
and psychoeducational evaluation for children, adolescents, and
adults. I focus on the impact of family relationships and culture on
identity development, mental health, and how we think, feel, and
behave. I appreciate that we develop across our lifespans and am
particularly interested in the transition to young adulthood. I have
an immense respect for the complexity and profound impact of adverse
childhood experiences and early trauma on a person's
development.
Before starting my private practice in 2000, I was a staff
psychologist at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh and worked at the
child outpatient clinic and on various adolescent inpatient units.
Before that, in the Boston area, I worked at various outpatient
clinics and hospitals. I've conducted seminars on psychological
testing and multicultural issues in psychotherapy. And I've
provided and continue to offer supervision and consultation to other
psychotherapists.
